This quiz is based on the lessons in Class 3 of chessKIDS academy. You should take the quiz when you are sure you understand the names of the squares, the values of the pieces and basic opening principles, and you are sure you can find moves to win pieces, checkmates in one move and ways to get out of check.
The lessons can also be found in the Beginners' and Improvers' sections (where they are indicated with three asterisks) of the chessKID part of the website.
You have to answer 15 questions. Some are multiple choice. In the other questions you have to enter the name of a square or the move you would make using a keypad. There is no time limit so think very carefully before you answer each question. You are allowed to change your mind about any answer. The answers you have selected at the end of the quiz will be the ones that count for your final score.
